Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
Introduction
TripRêve (“the site,” “we,” or “us”) is a travel publication operated by Ousema, based in Taiwan, on behalf of the TripRêve Team. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit tripreve.com, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.
We’ve tried to write this in plain language. If anything is unclear, you can reach us through the contact form.
What information we collect
Information you give us directly
When you fill out the contact form or subscribe to the newsletter, we collect what you submit — typically your name, email address, and message content. You decide what to share.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, certain information is collected automatically by our hosting provider, analytics tools, and content delivery network. This includes:
- Your IP address (anonymized in analytics)
- Browser type, version, and operating system
- Pages visited, referring URL, and time spent
- Approximate geographic location (country/region level)
- Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
This data helps us understand which guides are useful and where the site can improve. It is not tied to your name or contact details unless you’ve also subscribed or written in.
How we use the information
We use the information collected for the following purposes:
- To respond to you — when you write through the contact form, we use your email to reply
- To send the newsletter — if you subscribe, we use your email to send new guides and occasional updates
- To improve the site — analytics data shows us which guides are working and what content to write next
- To prevent abuse — spam protection, bot detection, and basic security checks
- To meet legal obligations — if law enforcement makes a valid legal request, we will comply
Google Analytics 4
This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use TripRêve. GA4 collects:
- Anonymized IP address
- Pages viewed and time on page
- Country and region (not exact location)
- Device, browser, and screen size
- Whether you arrived from a search engine, social media, or directly
This data is processed by Google. Their privacy practices are documented at policies.google.com/privacy.
You can install the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or decline analytics cookies through the cookie banner the first time you visit.
Newsletter — Kit (formerly ConvertKit)
The TripRêve newsletter is powered by Kit (formerly ConvertKit), a third-party email service provider. When you subscribe, your email address and any optional information (like first name) are stored in Kit and used to send you newsletters.
Kit acts as a data processor for TripRêve. Their privacy practices are at kit.com/privacy.
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email. When you unsubscribe, your email is removed from active sending lists.
Affiliate links and third-party booking platforms
TripRêve participates in affiliate marketing programs. When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, the booking platform may share limited information with us (such as whether the booking happened) so we can earn a commission. We do not receive your name, email, payment details, or booking specifics.
The affiliate platforms have their own privacy policies. Linking out to them is governed by their terms, not mine. Full list of affiliate partners is in the Affiliate Disclosure.
